Step 3. Lysis/sclerosis
Bone lesions can cause osteolysis (bone destruction) or osteosclerosis (bone formation), or both. This is far easier to see on an x-ray or CT scan than on MRI. An x-ray is fast and easy to carry out and immediately provides a good overview of most lesions. This is why x-ray examination is so important in the diagnostic process.
