X-Thorax kind
De basis principes van het X-thorax bij een kind.
Normale Anatomie
De thymus is een belangrijk orgaan en prominent aanwezig als structuur van het voorste mediastinum (fig. 3). De thymus kan tot ongeveer 5-jarige leeftijd zichtbaar zijn en bepaald voor een deel de breedte van het mediastinum. In de puberteit hoort de thymus uiteindelijk helemaal te verschrompelen en zal de thymus t.o.v. het jongere kind nu veel minder prominent aanwezig en zichtbaar zijn.
